PRESENTATION 2

PRESENTATION : 2 - 17 October 2014 (Friday)

Introduction
Kuih

Oral presentation is a great way of articulating someone’s thought in different styles or tones to communicate information. Whenever we work on our oral presentations, it would be good to remind ourselves to research on our audience in order to proceed to the next stage which is careful selection of topics. For the purpose of this group presentation, our diamond-shaped group which comprises nine members (i.e., Radika, Yeap, Mira, Ann, Wahida, Tisha, Li Na, Mazliana and Faezah) sat for a few sessions of discussion to figure out some exciting topics to be highlighted to the audience. During the brainstorming, we found that Malaysian Food is one of the attention-grabbing topics that should not be missed as this nation is among the top Asian countries which offer rich food with multicultural touch.

Funny Food Name
Perhaps, it is too common to sort the presentation sub-topics into different types of food in Malaysia based on ethnicity. Thus, in order to distinguish the common ones with our group’s unique thought, we felt that the sub-topics or rather the key points should be categorised into several aspects which are national dishes, food during festive seasons (i.e., Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Gawai), street food, aphrodisiacs, exotic food and food which appear with funny names. It was indeed a wonderful learning experience as this task required us to revisit a lot of information to enrich our existing knowledge and impart new input to the audience.

Line Up ..
The group presentation went well with a big round of applause from the audience as well as our home tutor, Mr. Bill Bowler. The continuous smooth flow of idea presented by each member in the team was undoubtedly the main reason for the success of the presentation. We were grateful to receive some motivating and enlightening feedback from the audience at the end of the session. Likewise, Mr. Bill too found that the presentation went exceptionally well but with some wise time management by keeping the interesting activities shorter and appropriate choice of font size on the slides, this session would have been even a better one. All in all, we hope that our group presentation’s attempt to enlighten our audience on the uniqueness of Malaysian food was a success!
